Glosswood was launched in 1998 by Perth timber specialists, who wanted to bring a quality prefinished sustainable lining board to the Australian design market. They sourced paulownia, a timber with the perfect attributes for a new natural product range, and developed a specialised low-VOC water-based UV coating system (not solvent-based) in their Perth factory. In 2004, Glosswood Prefinished Lining Board was born as a ready-to-install, eco-minded alternative to native hardwoods. The lining board took out a HIA Product Innovation Award in 2005. Glosswood launched a new colour range in a low-VOC matte stain in 2013. Visit glosswood.com.au for more information.
* Paulownia is a sustainable lightweight plantation-grown hardwood that is considered to be one of the fastest growing trees on the planet. It can grow up to two metres a year, so can be harvested at 10-12 years (pine is harvested at 20 years, jarrah at 70 years) and can reshoot up to six times before replanting is needed.
