Feast Watson 1L Natural Matt Look Decking Oil - 1L

A hard wearing, semi-transparent timber finish that enhances the natural beauty of timber whilst protecting it from Australia's harsh conditions. Matt Look Deck is specially formulated with a water based, modified oil to penetrate timber while sealing it at the same time. With added water, UV and mould resistant properties, it weathers naturally and will not flake or peel.

Proper preparation is key to achieving the best finish!

To get the most out of your deck, we recommend using Feast Watson’s Woodclean first to remove any dirt, oils or other contaminants to ensure you achieve the best result.

New Timber

How to prepare New Timber...

To coat your new timber immediately, use Intergrain® UltraPrep Tannin and Oil Remover, followed by Feast Watson Woodclean™. This way you will get the absolute best result from the Matt Look Deck Oil.
Alternatively, allow your new timber to weather for 4 - 6 weeks before applying. If you have a rich coloured timber hose it down recularly to release the tannin from the timber.
If you have pine decking, leave this to weather for 2 weeks before you coat with oil.
Weathered Timber

How to prepare Weathered Timber...

Make sure to clean your deck with Woodclean to ensure a blank canvas for your new masterpiece. No dirt or mould is welcome here!
If you have any stains or deteriorated surfaces, we recommend sanding the surfaces.
Don’t forget to get rid of all sanding residue before starting with Matt Look Deck Oil!

APPLICATION

How to apply Matt Look Decking Oil to your deck:

So, how do you make your deck look industry standard? Let’s see!



Before you get started, you need to ensure the following:

Your timber is completely dry before applying the Matt Look Deck Oil.
The Matt Look Deck Oil is thoroughly stirred through before starting (and during!). Avoid introducing any bubbles!
If you are coating a large space and need more than one Deck Oil, mix both cans together in a large container.
Make sure you only use the best tools such as a quality synthetic, pure bristle brush or lambswool applicator. Please don’t use a roller! We only want the best for your deck.


Alright take your product and your brush and let’s apply your timber oil:

Apply your first coat of Matt Look Deck by walking along 3-4 planks at a time, in the same direction as the grain of the deck.
Don’t forget about your edges! They need to be fully coated.
Note: You don’t have to be cautious about how much to use – the more the merrier!
Leave your deck to dry for 4 hours. Go make yourself a cup of tea, put your feet up and read a book.
Once you have finished a few chapters, apply a second coat as above.
Leave to dry for another 12 hours.
Congratulations, you now have a beautiful deck!


Note: If your deck is in full sun exposure, around pools or in humid areas, apply a third coat.

What is the drying time for the Matt Look Deck Oil?

Just like any other painting adventure, you must allow enough drying time. Make sure you allow for the following time:

Touch Dry: 2 hours.
Recoat: Allow a minimum of 4 hours drying between coats.
You can walk on your beautiful deck after 12 hours; however full curing occurs after 7 days.

How do I maintain my deck after using the Matt Look Deck Oil?

You’ve finished! Well done. Now, how do you keep your deck looking it’s best?

Regular check on the coated timber to look for any colour loss, dryness or weathering. If this occurs, recoat the timber and it will return to its original beauty.
If you recoat, don’t forget to clean your deck first using Woodclean!
