Kids bedroom ideas

A coat of paint, some new lighting and extra storage can make a big difference to your kids' bedrooms. And rather than just doing-it-yourself, make it a fun project you can do together as a family.

Extra Storage

Colourful bookshelves and bookcases can really brighten up a room. They not only give kids somewhere to keep all their stuff but also make an attractive design feature. Clever Cube storage cubes are a great place for the kids to put their toys, magazines and comics. They come in fabric, wicker and plastic, and stack away neatly.

Wall Decorations

A fresh coat of paint is the biggest change you can make to your child's bedroom, and a new colour can create a completely different mood. However, there are also plenty of little things you can add to walls that will brighten up the room. Wallpaper borders are a fun and easy way to change a room's look. Bunnings has a great range available with popular characters from Toy Story, Cars, Disney and Spiderman. Alphabet stencils and small sponge rollers let you paint your child’s name on the wall above their bed. You can also dedicate an entire wall for drawing with just a couple of coats of blackboard paint. A cork memo board is great for kids to pin up their favourite pictures. You could also run some wire along a wall and let them hang up their own artwork.

Art and Craft

For a splash of colour, kids can paint small terracotta pots to display on their bookshelves or cabinets. Bunnings also has a great range of foam flowers to fill them with. It's a great way for the kids to get creative and have a bit of fun decorating their room. There are also wood craft kits that let kids build and paint jewellery boxes, dinosaurs and race cars.

Just simply adding new curtains can completely transform the look of their room. It can be as simple as sliding off the old curtains or removing the mounting bracket from the wall, and installing a new one. You can even change the curtain rods or just add some new ends. But make sure that you measure the width and height of windows before you go shopping.

New light fittings can literally brighten up a room. You can also add some fun with a great range of coloured globes. And for the younger kids, Bunnings has a range of teddy bear, plane, and butterfly LED nightlights to help them get to sleep.
