Project Overview

In this video, Bronte will show you how to make a decorative wall hanger for your bedroom or room at home. It’s a quick and easy way to beautify your home.

Continue to Step-by-step instructions.

Step by Step Instructions

1 Cutting your hanger shapes
2 Making the decoration
3 Assembling your hanger
4 Adding the hanger
5 Finished Product
  • Step 1. Cutting your hanger shapes

For the first step we’re going to cut out all the pieces you need for the decoration. For the first piece we need one piece of felt about A4 size. Fold the top over and cut two small slits either side on the fold so we can hang it later. For the second piece, grab another piece of felt, fold it in half and cut along the fold, then cut about 8cm off the bottom. The last piece is a square of hessian about 3-4cm smaller than the first piece of felt.

  • Step 2. Making the decoration

Using another piece of felt, fold it in half, and trace a half heart shape along the fold. While it’s still folded, cut along the traced line to reveal your heart shape.

  • Step 3. Assembling your hanger

Now we’re going to put all the pieces we’ve cut together. Using some craft glue, layer the pieces in the following order by sticking them down; large felt, hessian then small piece of felt and finally the heart. Make sure they are all in the centre of each other.

  • Step 4. Adding the hanger

Once the glue is dry it’s time to make the hanger. With the help of a grownup, cut about 30cms of dowel and slide it through the two slits you created earlier. Cut a piece of string and tie it to each end of the dowel.

  • Step 5. Finished Product

And there you go, your hanging wall decoration is ready to put on the wall! They look great in any room around the home and are a great gift idea for loved ones.
