Five fun D.I.Y. projects to do with kids

Here are a few projects that will keep your kids entertained when the weather outside isn’t too flash. They’re sure to provide them with loads of fun and they’re all easy to do!

Light the way with a flower pot lighthouse

A flower pot lighthouse, pictured above, is an easy project for kids to do that combines painting, creativity and spending time in the garden. Best of all, it’ll look great as you light it up at night. All you’ll need is a few simple materials, some terracotta pots and you’re ready to go.

If you’ve got a little sports fan in your home, then a giant foam finger is the perfect thing to help them cheer on their favourite team. It’s as easy as cutting a hand out of foam squares, decorating it in their favourite team colours and then they’ll be ready to support their team.

Your kids will have heaps of fun making a cute herb pet. They can choose their favourite animal to make, and there are loads of herbs that they can plant. Herbs are really easy to grow so they are ideal for kids and for families without much outdoor space. The best thing of all is that your kids can even eat the pet’s hair!

Wind chimes are a great addition to your garden. This D.I.Y. wind chime will add a nice touch to your outdoor area and it’s easy to make. Your kids could even try to experiment for different sounds such as changing the length or thickness of the dowel or even varying the material you use. Get creative!
