The best D.I.Y. gifts for dad
Choose rocks with a flat side that can easily be glued to one side of the garden stake. If you can, try and find rocks that are a similar shape to the fruit or vegetable that you're trying to re-create. You'll need one rock per vegie or fruit.
Draw an outline of each fruit or vegetable on your rocks so the rock face looks like the fruit or vegetable.
Paint inside the drawn lines to create your fruit or vegetable character. Use a felt tip pen or paint pen to give your rock some personality. Leave the rocks to dry.
Paint the stakes any colour you like – you may need a few coats of paint for a strong colour. Leave to dry and then decorate with your felt-tip pens. You can add dots, stripes or any pattern you like! You could also write plant care instructions.
Run a line of glue down the top of the stake, around the same length as your rock. Push your rock onto the glue and then leave them lying down to dry for 24 hours.
Once the glue is dry your stakes are ready to be displayed proudly in the garden.
