Project Overview

Mounting your TV on the wall is a great way to reduce glare on your screen, save space in your living room and avoid sticky little fingers. We show you how to easily attach a bracket to the wall that can safely hold your TV. Before you start just make sure you pick the right size bracket for your unit.

Continue to Step-by-step instructions.

Step by Step Instructions

1 Find your stud and mark out
2 Predrill first hole and affix bolt
3 Predrill and screw in the rest of the bolts
4 Choose the right bolt for your TV
5 Attach the bracket hooks to the TV
6 Plug in the TV and position it on the wall
  • Step 1. Find your stud and mark out

Use a stud finder to find the studs in the wall and mark out, avoiding any wiring that may be behind where you’re working. Place the bracket on the wall and use a spirit level to make sure it’s level. Using the cutouts in the wall mount’s framework, mark the positions for your fixings along the stud. A good idea is to put the bracket over the top of a power point to conceal the cords.

  • Step 2. Predrill first hole and affix bolt

Predrill your first hole that you have marked out. Then hold your wall mount to the wall and using a shifter, affix your first coach bolt with a washer. Don’t tighten the bolt yet so you can keep the wall mount level after putting in the other bolts.

  • Step 3. Predrill and screw in the rest of the bolts

Now that you have your first bolt in, go ahead and predrill three other holes using the wall mount cutouts and screw in your bolts. When you’re happy that the wall mount is level, you can tighten the bolts.

  • Step 4. Choose the right bolt for your TV

There’s a range of bolts that come with your wall mount that fit different TV brands. You’ll need to find the right bolts that suit the TV you are mounting. To check, simply screw them into the back of the TV to find which ones fit. You’ll also need to use the supplied star washers or the vibrations from the TV may loosen the bolt.
  • Step 5. Attach the bracket hooks to the TV

Make sure that the bracket hooks are facing up the right way.  Then using the bolts you have chosen, secure the brackets to the back of the TV using the star washers.  Check the brackets aren’t poking over the top of the TV.

  • Step 6. Plug in the TV and position it on the wall

Set the angle of the bracket hooks to what you want and tighten the nut on the side to hold them in place. Plug all of the cords into the back of the TV before you mount it because you won’t have much room when you put it on the wall. Then using a long screwdriver, tighten the screws at the bottom of the bracket to hold the TV in the right position.
