This simple D.I.Y. tie rack is easy to make and a great way to keep your ties organised. Hang it on your wall or inside a cupboard door.
What You’ll Need:
Step 1: Measure and Mark
Take your piece of pine and measure and mark out the points for your holes. You should be able to fit 5 hangers roughly 5cm apart.
Step 2: Drill
Attach the hole-cutter bit to your power drill and drill holes at each of your marked points. Make sure the bit suits the width of your rod.
Step 3: Cut the Rod
Use your handsaw to cut the rod into 5 pieces. Measure out 120mm lengths for each piece.
A mitre box is a handy tool to securely hold and cut small pieces of timber.
Step 4: Sand Ends
Use your sandpaper and block to sand each rod at one end to make your pegs nice and smooth.
Step 5: Glue Pegs
Apply some wood glue to each hole. Then gently hammer in the pegs. You can reinforce the pegs with a screw in the end, which expands it to fit the hole.
Step 6: Paint
Once your pegs are securely in place, you’re ready to paint or stain it any colour you like. Make sure you add a couple of coats of paint for the best finish.
