Traditionally, timber has been the go-to material when it comes to decking. While there's no doubt timber looks great, it is prone to deterioration and requires ongoing maintenance to keep it looking good. HardieDeck™ is made from James Hardie's premium fibre cement. It is designed to stay strong as it ages, and is resistant to damage from moisture, sunlight and termites, making it the perfect decking material.
HardieDeck™ boards are wide, gap-free and come in a variety of colours and finishes. They can be used anywhere you would install a timber deck with the added benefit of concealed screws and splinter-free boards. They allow you and your family to walk, play and run without any sign of bounce, squeaking or sponginess. Because of its unique, non-combustible fibre cement composition, HardieDeck™ is also the ideal choice for pool and spa decking, even barbecues and fire pits.
When it comes to installation, you can do it yourself or have it done by a professional deck installer or carpenter. The HardieDeck™ system has three components:
• HardieDeck™ fibre cement boards machined for the fixing system
• Fast-track fixing system
• Sealing in a variety of finishes

These substances can easily be disturbed when renovating and exposure to them can cause a range of life-threatening diseases and conditions including cancer. When following our advice in our D.I.Y. videos, make sure you use all equipment, including PPE, safely by following the manufacturer’s instructions. Check that the equipment is suitable for the task and that PPE fits properly. If you are unsure, hire an expert to do the job or talk to a Bunnings Team Member.
