Product Description

‘Bush Christmas’ is a dwarf, compact form of syzygium australe. This lush Lilly Pilly is excellent for hedging and topiary. You can cut ‘Bush Christmas’ into almost any shape. They will, if unpruned, grow up to 4mts and can make 2 – 3mts wide given enough time. You can also keep them at 1mt tall. Pruning will make them flush with brilliant red new growth and they can produce white flowers on mass usually around Christmas.

Like all Lilly Pilly’s, ‘Bush Christmas’ likes full-sun or part-shade. Full sun gives the best show in the new growth. They prefer well drained, fertile soil and are frost sensitive.

Growing tip: Prune 8 weeks prior to your next function to have them in full show. If you don’t want the flowers (which result in berries) then prune just before bud burst to remove the flowers and feed with an organic fertiliser. (Blood n bone, cow poo etc.)
This will kick them into growing again and miss the flower season.

  • Ideal for hedging and screening
  • Lovely as a topiary
  • Bird attracting
