Sweet Peas - Are beautifully scented and colourful. Tall growing varieties are ideal against a fence in a sunny position. Cover with Yates Seed Raising Mix and keep moist, but avoid over-wetting.

Broadbeans, which are a useful soil improver, can be planted now. The plants may need some support. Onions can also be sown now. Don’t plant too deeply, just cover the roots and the base of the stem

Prune and tidy day lilies, Easter daisies, lavender, phlox and other perennials that have finished flowering.

Feed shrubs and trees with organic Dynamic Lifter. With a stake, make holes down into the soil and fill with Dynamic Lifter. This way the greedy grass won't absorb all the nutrients.

After their leaves fall, give deciduous fruit trees a clean-up spray with Yates Lime Sulphur.
