How to Install a Polar Window

In this example we will show you the steps required to select and assemble a 1800mm high x 1545mm wide awning Polar window with two fixed windows.

1 Select 1 x 600mm x 1545mm Openable Window and 2 x 600mm x 1545mm fixed windows in White Birch.   2 Select 2 x right hand (RH) Cam Handles.To install the handles use the provided 4 x stainless steel screws. Attach the handles as shown through the pre-drilled holes. The scuff plate has been factory fitted to prevent possible chipping and scratching.   3 To connect your windows together, stand and bring together two windows. Apply a bead of silicone in the centre guide of the joiner. Once close together slide the joiner into the channels. Once these two windows are connected bring the third window together and repeat the process.

4 Select 1 x 1545mm Reveal Fin for the top of the window and 2 x 1800mm Reveal Fins for the side of your windows. Apply a bead of silicone in the centre guide of the Reveal Fins. To install simply slide each fin into the channel as shown.   5

Select a White Birch 1545mm Sub Sill Fin. Apply a bead of silicone in the centre guide of the Sub Sill Fin.To install, slide the Sub Sill Fin into the bottom channel of your window. The drainage holes must face outside.


6 To prepare your window for installation attach your timber reveal lining to each reveal fin by screwing through the pre-drilled holes.

7 Insert your window into the prepared opening in your home. Ensure the frame is packed plumb, square and not twisted within openings. Check diagonals before fixing. Secure the window by nailing through Reveal lining in the stud frame.                                                                                                                                           

 


 
         
 
Materials & Tools Required

 

   Use the following list as a guide to assist in the successful assembly and installation of your Polar Eco-View Windows.

 

  • Rubber mallet
  • Hammer
  • Cordless drill
  • Philips head screwdriver
  • Caulking gun/silicone
  • Pencil
  • Tape Measure 
  • Spirit level
  • Saw (if required to cut reveals to length)
  • Safety gear- dust mask, ear and eye protection.
 
Handy Hints

 

 

  • To assist in the assembly process ensure you assemble your window/s on a level or flat surface.
  • To avoid marking or scratching your windows the supplied cardboard box can be used to provide a non-marking flat surface.
  • Only ever use a rubber mallet when assisting the insertion of a joiner or reveal fin. Never use a metal hammer.
  • Once the cam handle is fitted ensure it is in the closed position to avoid the window from opening and to avoid damage whilst assembling.
  • The Polar static window film applied to all windows must face outwards once installed.
  • Double Glazed Windows are heavy. Use correct lifting techniques when moving cartons and windows into position.
