How To Make Hanging Pipe Planters

Project Overview

Add a touch of flair to any space with these Hanging Pipe Planters made from tough, readily available PVC pipe and a dash of imagination. Adult supervision is recommended and always keep children away from hand and power tools.

Step by Step Instructions

1 Drill

  • Step 1. Drill

    Drill drainage holes along the underside of your pipe.
  • Step 2. Outline

    Turn pipe over and draw a cutout outline.
  • Step 3. Cut outline

    Using a jigsaw cut out your outline.

    Handy hint: pre-drill a few holes in succession to allow blade of jigsaw to cut from the middle of the pipe.

  • Step 4. Fit

    Fit elbow to one end of pipe. Place end cap at opposite end.

    Handy hint: place a little glue on the sleeve of the pipe should for a more permanent fixing.

  • Step 5. Installing hooks

    Pre drill one hole at both ends of the pipe for your eye hooks to be installed. Ensure your drill bit is slightly smaller than your hook.
  • Step 6. Screw

    Screw brass eye hooks into pipe.
  • Step 7. Spray

    Spray the entire pipe including both ends with Revolution spray praint. This contains a primer and paint finish in one.
  • Step 8. Plant

    Fill the pipe with potting mix and plant your selection of plants.
  • Step 9. Attach chains

    Attach two identical chains to your eye hooks and suspend from overhead.
