Throughout August and September, Bunnings stores facilitated fundraising for the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia (PCFA). PCFA volunteers were in our stores across Australia shaking tins to assist in fundraising for 2010. In addition to this, we conducted sausage sizzles across the country and successfully raised over $65,000 for the PCFA.
Throughout May 2010, Bunnings stores facilitated fundraising for the Salvation Army Red Shield Appeal. Salvation Army volunteers were in our stores across Australia shaking tins to assist in fundraising for 2010. The Salvation Army Volunteers fundraised over $164,000 across Bunnings stores.
Bunnings stores nationally assisted local Meals on Wheels and Country Women’s Association groups in May 2010. The groups were invited in store to fundraise and raise awareness and undertook a wide variety of activities. Team Members were also out in the community to volunteer their time to the organisations; delivering meals and conducting workshops with the groups.
In the weeks leading up to ANZAC Day 2010, stores assisted local RSL, Legacy, Rotary and Lions groups by undertaking a revamp of a memorial or outside area. Stores around the country joined in on a variety of activities – planting potted colour and rosemary, repainting fences and renovating cenotaphs. Local groups were also invited in store to sell ANZAC badges.
For the second consecutive year, stores around Australia chose local hospitals, schools and community groups to carry out painting activities. Expert Team Members visited the groups to share their time and skills repainting halls and walls, creating murals and updating outside areas for the groups. Some stores banded together in regions to undertake larger projects where they were needed.
