   The McGrath Foundation

This Mother’s Day Bunnings Warehouse stores nationally will be proudly supporting the McGrath Foundation

Created in 2002, by Jane and Glenn McGrath, the McGrath Foundation aims to raise funds to place breast care nurses in rural and regional Australia, as well as educating young women to be ‘breast aware’. The McGrath Foundation’s dream is to provide access for every breast cancer patient nationally to a McGrath Breast Care Nurse.

Visit your local Bunnings Warehouse this Mother’s Day to find out how you can be a part of supporting this cause.

Australasian Fire Authorities Council (AFAC) Volunteer Firefighters Fundraiser - January 2008

Together with Dulux, Bunnings supports a wide range of local and metropolitan fire authorities and emergency services groups through the AFAC Appeal held in January.

Throughout January Bunnings and Dulux will donate five dollars from every can of 4 litre Wash & Wear 101 or 6 litre Weathershield paint sold at Bunnings stores to AFAC for volunteers’ fire safety training.

In 2006/07 $230,000 was raised, and since 2003 over $1 million has been donated to provide leadership training for volunteer firefighters across Australia.

In the past some of the funds have also been used to purchase critical equipment, including Global Positioning Systems (GPS), development of a volunteer website in the Northern Territory and purchase of a Vector Command Emergency Computer Simulator for the NSW Rural Fire Service.

   Salvation Army

This Christmas for the first time, Bunnings Warehouse stores nationally will be proudly supporting the Salvation Army Red Shield Appeal.

The Salvation Army Christmas Appeal has been at the forefront of Australian welfare fundraising for nearly 20 years.  The Christmas Appeal and the Red Shield Appeal together rank among the most identifiable community and charity events in the country and are supported loyally by Australians in all states.

This year each Bunnings Warehouse store will support the Salvation Army, with volunteers shaking tins at selected Bunnings stores whilst other stores will be taking orders for Christmas puddings and cards on weekends from late November until the 22nd December. Well loved local Salvation Army bands and carollers will also entertain customers at selected stores across Australia with festive Christmas carols.

National Breast Cancer Foundation - Porches in Pink 2007

Bunnings is once again a proud supporter of the National Breast Cancer Foundation.

All Australians can support Breast Cancer Month by purchasing pink OSRAM Dot-it lights at their local Bunnings store throughout October.

The Pink LED Portable Light is $6.95 and all proceeds from sales are given back to the National Breast Cancer Foundation.

I
n 2006 more than $120,000 was raised by Bunnings for breast cancer research.

Breast cancer is the most common cause of cancer death in Australian women and one in eleven women will be diagnosed with breast cancer before the age of 75.

The National Breast Cancer Foundation seeks to actively promote and support a comprehensive program of breast cancer research, and ensure research findings provide better outcomes for patients and their families.

   Father's Day Appeal - September 2007

The annual Bunnings Warehouse Father’s Day Appeal aims to increase awareness of men’s health issues while raising much needed funds for hospital equipment.

In 2007 the Appeal was expanded to a national scale with all Bunnings Warehouse stores across Australia selling Father’s Day aprons through August and September.

The 2007 Appeal contributed much needed funds to nominated hospitals across Australia including The Alfred (VIC), The Children’s Hospital at Westmead (NSW), The Mater Foundation (QLD), Sir Charles Gairdner (WA), The Royal Hobart Hospital (TAS), The Queen Elizabeth Hospital Research Foundation (SA) and The Royal Darwin Hospital (NT).

Since the Appeal first began in Victoria in 1999 more than $400,000 has been raised for The Alfred with funds going toward the purchase of critical care and trauma equipment within the hospital.

The Alfred Hospital (Victoria) Fathers Day Appeal - September 2007

Since 1999 the Bunnings Warehouse Father’s Day appeal for The Alfred has been working to raise much needed funds for the hospital.

With around 70% of The Alfred’s critically ill patients being male, the appeal also aims to raise awareness for men’s health issues.

Each year, a product is sold within Bunnings stores which raises valuable funds for The Alfred. Over the past two years, the product has been a handy first aid kit with built in torch.

Since 2000, more than $400,000 has been raised for The Alfred, with funds going to the purchase of critical care and trauma equipment.

  Anglicare Appeal - December 2006

Every Christmas hundreds of Australian families struggle to make ends meet. The Anglicare Christmas Appeal provides much-needed funds for food hampers, clothing and gifts for families who would otherwise go without.

Bunnings supported the Anglicare Christmas Appeal by selling angel merchandise in all stores during December.

Anglicare’s Angel volunteers visit Bunnings stores for the Angel Appeal weekend, selling merchandise and collecting donations, as well as spreading Christmas cheer.

Anglicare merchandise includes Christmas decorations, pens, lapel pins and other Christmas gifts, and in 2006 more than $120,000 was raised at our stores to make Christmas brighter for disadvantaged Australian families.

National Breast Cancer Foundation & Dulux -  October 2006

In October 2006 Dulux launched its very popular bi-annual Jelly Bean promotion.  With every purchase of 2 x 4 litres of Dulux Premium Paint customers were given a free 4 litre can of Jelly Beans.

This promotion is one of the most successful long term promotions within the paint industry and sales of Dulux products peaked during this period.

This year the promotion took a different look at Bunnings.  Every customer who purchased 2 x 4 litre of paint received a free 4 litre can of jelly beans as well as generating a donation to the National Breast Cancer Foundation.
This was also supported with a fantastic TV commercial and was available exclusively at Bunnings Warehouse.  After 6 weeks of great sales & support from our customers the donation to NBCF totalled a fantastic $80,000.

The success of this has us thinking about this now becoming an annual event.  Whatever the outcome this is a fantastic cause to support and we are all very proud of the contribution that has been made.

Starlight Foundation (Western Australia) - Kids DIY Workshops

Bunnings has been a proud sponsor of the annual Starlight Star Day appeal since 2005, raising in excess of $19,000 for the children’s charity through the sale of Star Day merchandise in Bunnings stores throughout Western Australia.

All funds raised through Star Day go towards brightening the lives of seriously ill children and hospitalised children in WA.

Following on from Bunnings’ experience with Star Day, the Bunnings WA team decided that seriously ill children shouldn’t miss out on the Bunnings Kids DIY Workshops, so the team regularly conducts workshops in the Starlight Express Room at Princess Margaret Hospital.

Since the first workshop in 2005, over 5,000 children have participated in a Bunnings Kids DIY Workshop learning how to build, paint, hammer and decorate their own toolbox, wooden truck, pencil case, mug holder, CD rack, or serving tray.

“My son has been in PMH for 3 weeks and has occupied his time with only computer games and movies.   When Bunnings came in today, my son really came to life.  He is normally such an active boy, and to now see him doing this again hammering and painting away, really warmed my heart.  Thanks Captains and thanks Sarah (Bunnings Activity Co-ordinator)”  Starlight parent.
